If your career is in information technology you should be a member of CIPS Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan chapter of CIPS, Canada’s Association of IT Professionals. With members in 23 cities from Victoria to St. John’s, CIPS is the single largest all-Canadian association for people involved in information technology.
Professional Certification
It’s about Professionalism- Working towards or achieving the Information Systems Professional (I.S.P.) designation sets you apart from other IT practitioners. You are making a commitment to IT professionalism by ensuring you are continuously updating your skills and gaining relevant experience. Your I.S.P. designation confirms your status as an IT practitioner of the highest integrity. In the eyes of potential employers, customers or clients, this is a good thing.
In 2008, CIPS introduced the Information Technology Certified Professional (ITCP). The ITCP designation is directed specifically to senior IT practitioners and academics who want to demonstrate to their employer, their clients, their students and their partners that in addition to their IT knowledge, they understand how to effectively utilize and apply their organizational experience to achieving organizational excellence. The ITCP standard has been accredited by the International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3) and ITCP holders are internationally recognized under the IP3 umbrella.
